About us
La Margherita owners Rocchina, Lina & Jean-Louis have been in the catering business for over 40 years.
Rocchina emigrated from Puglia, Southern Italy in the 1950’s.
She met her French husband Jean-Louis in catering, and they have been working together since the 1970s.
Their first restaurant, in the same location on Magdalene Street, was a fine dining French Restaurant called Jean Louis.
The recession in the 1980s led to its closure and the opening of La Margherita in its place.
We love cooking
Rocchina’s love of food and cooking is influenced by her parents.
Her father grew his own vegetables and her mother cooked them.
Everything Rocchina knows about cooking was taught to her by her mother,
with recipes passed down through the generations.
What sets La Margherita apart from other Cambridge restaurants,
aside from the food, is the service. Many of our regular customers say
they love coming to us because the staff here today
are the same faces from 25 years ago.
Saverio, has been La Margherita’s most loyal waiter since day one
and Rocchina’s sister, Lina, has been the restaurant’s manageress since it opened.
La Margherita is a real family affair with children Jean-Pierre, Nadine
and Clara playing key roles in running the business today.
